Avenue directly across from the Thomson Hill Park, built in 1934, the changes over the
years have been slow. The once beautiful lobby with the stained glass
window, and acid etched doors are long gone. The halls and public area were
once done in gold leaf in the art deco style have long been replaced. The big change in this picture
would be the roof, the towers on each of the corners have been evened off,
and the gargoyles that watched over the building have long been removed. That's
Paul's candy store on the corner, if anyone has details of the others stores
we would love to hear from you. The building directly on the right in this
picture is the Sunnyside Synagogue, at that time the Synagogue was only one
story. In 2003 the building was used for filming "Saving Helen" with Kate
Hudson. Saving Helen was released in 2004.
