The great game
hunter of his time Frank Buck, brought the animals back and they went through
quarantine here. (some might remember the film from the early 1930's "Frank
Buck's Bring Them Back Alive"). Most animals were brought in by ships in the
twenties and thirties, they would be quarantined and rested here before shipping
them to the zoos throughout the states. The farm was located in back of P.C.
Richard's
Parking Lot. The above woman was Clara Vespermann who worked at the
animal farm. Mrs Vespermann was married to the resident vetenarian Dr. Gustav Vespermann.
