QUEENS CHILD GUIDANCE CENTER
Queens Child Guidance Center is a 50-year-old community based
non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the emotional
well-being of children, adolescents and their families. At 9
neighborhood clinics and more
than 40 public schools, we provide caring professional help to
vulnerable children and teens for such problems as depression,
school failure, child abuse, domestic violence and traumas like
losing a parent.
In addition to child and family therapy, medication treatment and
parental guidance, the Center offers support groups, summer
recreation programs, bilingual intervention, home-based crisis
intervention, after-school tutoring and public speakers who offer
expertise on practical parenting issues. Last year the Center served
over 8,000 families, of whom the majority were poor or working
class, with many new immigrants.
